Complete and incomplete formulations of Freund's and alum-based adjuvants to mix and emulsify with processed immunogens; for use in the preparation and subcutaneous or intravenous injection of immunization agents into animals for efficient antibody production.
Alum Adjuvant is insoluble white colloidal suspension of aluminum hydroxide used to potentiate immune response. Antigen adsorbs on the aluminum hydroxide precipitate and when injected form a depot of insoluble antigen at injection site which attracts immune cells and enhance immune response.

The effectiveness of an oil emulsion vaccine greatly depends on the form and stability of the emulsion. TiterMax Classic is a water-in-oil formulation with up to 90% water and a powerful adjuvant used in many protocols. TiterMax Classic Adjuvant contains three essential ingredients a block copolymer CRL89-41 squalene (a metabolizable oil) and a unique microparticulate stabilizer. The emulsion is less viscous and suitable for injection through small needles.

Synonym: FCA. Cell suspension. Each mL contains 1 mg of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (H37Ra, ATCC 25177), heat killed and dried, 0.85 mL paraffin oil and 0.15 mL mannide monooleate. Antigens (preferably in saline) are typically mixed with an equal volume of the adjuvant to form an emulsion. Freund′s Adjuvants may be used to produce water-in-oil emulsions of immunogens. Antigens in water-in-oil emulsions stimulate high and long-lasting antibody responses which can be attributed to the slow release of antigen.
