Lifeink 200 is a 35 mg/ml type I collagen bioink for extrusion based FRESH 3D bioprinting. Lifeink 200 comes as a pH neutral, isotonic bioink and is ready for cell addition and bioprinting. For printing with Lifeink 200, we highly recommend using the FRESH printing technique and printing at 2-8°C. 3D gels allow for the study of the effects of the mechanical properties of the ECM, such as density and rigidity, on cell development, migration, and morphology. Unlike 2D systems, 3D environments allow cell extensions to simultaneously interact with integrins on all cell surfaces, resulting in the activation of specific signaling pathways. Gel stiffness or rigidity also affects cell migration differently in 3D versus 2D environments. A bioink that resembles life should include the following traits: High Print Resolution, shear-thinning, strong mechanical strength, superior cytocompatibility, allow for cellular remodeling, and is biomimetic. Lifeink 200 fulfills those requirements.

PureCol is a 3 mg/ml, Type I bovine atelocollagen solution for 2D and 3D cell culture, or as a collagen standard. PureCol is known as the standard among collagen products for purity (≥99.9% collagen content), consistency and reproducibility, and is cited in >2000 publications. PureCol is isolated from bovine hides sourced from the only controlled, closed herd in the United States. PureCol collagen is approximately 97% Type I atelocollagen with the remainder being comprised of Type III collagen. PureCol collagen is supplied at approximately a 3 mg/ml concentration. The concentration for each specific lot is provided on a Certificate of Analysis that is available with the purchase of each product. PureCol is soluble atelocollagen in 0.01 N HCI, therefore, the pH is 2. PureCol collagen is ideal for coating of surfaces, providing preparation of thin layers for culturing cells, or use as a solid gel. PureCol is sterile filtered. Several culture models exist to study fibroblasts' ability of to reorganize and contract collagen matrices in vitro. In the two-step attached contraction model, a polymerized collagen matrix containing cells remains attached to the culture dish during contraction. Mechanical tension develops during contraction, and cellular stress fibers assemble. The model combines an initial period of attached matrix contraction leading to mechanical loading, followed by release of the matrices, resulting in mechanical unloading and further contraction as mechanical stress dissipates. Cell Biolabs’ Collagen-based Contraction Assay Kit provides a simple system to assess cell contractivity in vitro and screen cell contraction mediators using the two-step attached model. Each kit provides sufficient quantities to perform up to 24 assays in a 24-well plate. The kit can also be used for culturing cells in a 3D collagen matrix.
