BIOGEMS INTERNATIONAL INC Viability Dye 506 100 tests
The Viability Dye 506 can be used to exclude non-viable cells in flow cytometry assays. It irreversibly binds to cell surface and intracellular amines. The dye can covalently bind to a higher concentration of amines in cells that have lost plasma membrane integrity, such as those in the late stages of apoptosis or dead cells, and generate a significantly more intense fluorescence signal. The advantage of this viability dye over propidium iodide and 7-AAD, is that the cells it denotes can be washed, fixed, permeabilized and intracellularly stained without losing the fluorescence of the viability staining.
The Viability Dye 506 can be excited by the violet (405nm) laser and has a peak emission of 506nm detectable by the 510/50 band pass filter.

The dyes are able to enter into dead cells that have compromised membrane integrity and covalently label free amines on intracellular proteins. The dye labeling is extremely stable, allowing the cells to be fixed and permeabilized without loss of fluorescence or dye transfer between cells. The Live-or-Dye™ staining protocol has been optimized to maximize live/dead discrimination with minimal live cell staining, in order to prevent interference with immunostaining. Live-or-Dye™ Fixable Viability Stains are dead cell specific in all cell types, including mammalian cells, bacteria and yeast. Live-or-Dye™ 350/448 is suitable for excitation by 355 nm laser line. Biotium Bacterial Viability and Gram Stain Kit - 200 assays
The Bacterial Viability and Gram Stain Kit contains three dyes (CF488A WGA, DAPI and EthD-III) for distinguishing between gram-negative and gram-positive, as well as live versus dead bacteria. CF488A-labeled wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) stains the N-acetylglucosamine of the peptidoglycan layer of gram-positive bacteria with green fluorescence. Ethidium Homodimer III (EthD-III) is a nucleic acid binding dye that is membrane impermeable, which selectively stains cells with compromised plasma membranes with red fluorescence. All cells stain blue with the membrane permeable DNA dye DAPI. One kit is sufficient for 200 assays when used according to the kit protocol. The Bacterial Viability and Gram Stain Kit has been tested on the following bacterial species: Bacillus subtilis subsp. subtilis, Escherichia coli, Micrococcus luteus, Pseudomonas fluorescens, and Staphylococcus epidermidis.
