Description

Mouse Monoclonal Antibody

Product is supplied at 1 mL (100 μL/mL). This antibody recognizes the spacer domain and reacts with molecular species of 55 kDa or a doublet of 55 kDa and 60 kDa (glycosylated form). Note that proteolysis of Punctin-1 has been described and additional smaller bands may also be obtained. Western blotting applications the antibody works better in non-reducing than reducing conditions although it will also recognize the reduced antigen at correspondingly higher concentrations.

Punctin (ADAMTSL-1) is a secreted molecule, expressed in adult skeletal muscle, resembling members of the ADAMTS family of proteases, containing four thrombospondin type I repeats. Human punctin cleaves aggrecan and is thereby classified as an aggrecanase. Like the ADAMTS proteases, each domain in punctin has an even number of cysteine residues suggesting that each domain may have internal disulfide bonds and that punctin consists of a series of independently folded and disulfide-bonded domains.
