Description

Mouse Monoclonal Antibody

Caspase 7 functions as an effector caspase that cleaves downstream substrates responsible for producing the morphological and biochemical changes associated with apoptosis. The alpha form of caspase 7 is 303 amino acids and gets cleaved upon activatiuon to 20 and 12kDa subunits. A 253 aa beta form, presumably a result of alternative splicing, lacks the cysteine protease active site (QACRG) and may function as a dominant negative regulator of apoptosis.
