Description
Reacts with CD208, also known as DC-LAMP or lysosome associate membrane protein. DC-LAMP is an intracellular molecule, of approximately 70 - 90 kDa, induced during dendritic cell (DC) maturation. It is undetected in immature DCs, but it is sharply expressed upon activation with LPS, TNFa, or CD154 in DCs from skin, tonsil, cultures of CD34+ cells in presence of GM-CSF and TNFa, and on monocyte cultures in the presence of GM-CSF and IL-4. Reports describe the transient expression of CD208 in the MHC class II compartment before the translocation of the MHC II molecules to the cell surface. It has been suggested that the biological role of DCLAMP could be its participation in peptide loading onto MHC class II.
