Description
Reacts with the cell surface MHC class II-associated invariant chain molecule (41, 35, 33 kDa). CD74 is moderately expressed on B cells, and weakly on monocytes and macrophages. Other reactive cells include Langerhans cells, dendritic cells, a subset of activated T cells and thymic epithelium. LN2 monoclonal antibody labels a nuclear membrane protein of follicular center and mantle zone B cells and a cytoplasmic protein of cells which bind HLA class II antibodies. CD74 is postulated to play a role in antigen processing and presentation through intracellular transport and expression of class II molecules on the cell surface. This antibody is suitable for staining formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections without citrate pretreatment.
