Description
GTP-binding proteins (G-proteins) play a critical role in signal transduction by coupling receptors to effectors. The intracellular consequences of G-protein activation include second messenger generation, protein phosphorylation, ion channel activation, gene induction, cell growth, and differentiation. Go belongs to the pertussis toxin sensitive G-proteins. It consists of two subtypes of α-subunits (αo1 and αo2) derived from alternative splicing of a single gene. αo1 differs from αo2 within the C-terminal third of the deduced amino acid sequence.
Host Species: Mouse
Clone: 2A.3
Isotype: IgG1
Cross Reactivity: Human, Cow, Rat, Mouse, and Guinea pig. Others-not known
Epitope: Not determined
Immunogen: Partially purified bovine brain Gαo protein
Molecular Weight: 39-42kDa
Positive Control: IMR-5 cells. Brain
Cellular Localization: Cell membrane
Ab-2 is highly specific to Galphao and shows no cross-reaction with transducin, Gαi1, Gαi2, Gαi3, or Gαs. It reacts equally with the C-terminal splice variants of Gαo (mouse GαoA and GαoB, equivalent to Gαo1 and Gαo2 in other species).
