Description
The 2918 monoclonal antibody specifically binds to the alpha subunit (IL-27 Receptor alpha/IL-27 R α ) of the mouse Interleukin-27 Receptor complex. IL-27 R α is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein that belongs to the type I cytokine receptor family. It is also known as WSX-1 and T cell cytokine receptor (TCCR). IL-27 R α combines with gp130 (CD130) to form a high-affinity cell surface receptor that transduces intracellular signals through the JAK-STAT pathway upon IL-27 binding. IL-27 is a heterodimeric cytokine that is composed of the Epstein-Barr virus-induced gene 3 (EBI3) and IL-27p28 (IL-30) protein subunits. This multifunctional cytokine is produced by activated macrophages, dendritic cells, and epithelial cells. It mediates a broad array of pro- and anti-inflammatory responses. The IL-27 Receptor is expressed by a variety of cell types including naοve T cells and B cells. It is more highly expressed by NK cells and subsets of activated T cells.
