Specifically detects Nitrotyrosine Clone: in Human samples, and it is validated for Immunohistochemistry

Nitrotyrosine is a product of tyrosine nitration mediated by reactive nitrogen species. Proteins are often targets of reactive species and detection of oxidatively modified proteins is often used as an index of oxidative stress. Peroxynitrite is a strong oxidant formed by reaction of nitric oxide with superoxide. The reaction of proteins with peroxynitrite results in the oxidation of tryptophan and cysteine, as well as the nitration of tyrosine, formation of dityrosine, 2,4 dinitrophenylhydrazine-reactive carbonyls, and protein fragmentation. The formation of 3-nitrotyrosine represents a specific peroxynitrite-mediated protein modification that is different from modifications mediated by reactive oxygen species. Studies show that elevated nitrotyrosine levels are associated with inflammatory conditions, such as atherosclerotic plaques and rheumatoid arthritis.
