Description
SIII p15 is one of three polypeptides that comprise the approximate 140kDa RNA polymerase II transcription factor SIII. The other two polypeptides have the molecular weights of 110kDa and 18kDa. All three polypeptides are required for transcription factor SIII function. Although the polypeptides were identified and purified from rat liver nuclear extracts, tissue expression of this transcription factor appears to be widespread. RNA polymerase II recognizes the SIII transcription factor and in turn initiates transcription from these correctly initiated transcripts. A yeast transcription factor designated YES may be the yeast homolog to SIII.
