Description
The S5-1216 monoclonal antibody specifically binds to human Sox7, a member of the SRY-related HMG-box (SOX) family of transcription factors. Sox7 plays a key role in cardiac, hematopoietic and vascular development. Sox7 is also involved in endoderm lineage determination, where Sox7 is expressed in the extraembryonic endoderm but not in the definitive endoderm. Over-expression of Sox7 in human embryonic stem cells leads to differentiation into lineage restricted extraembryonic endoderm progenitors. Furthermore, Sox7 has a tumor suppressive activity, as indicated by its down-regulation in colon, prostate, lung and breast cancer.
