Description

Description

Specifically detects Synaptophysin Clone: SP15 in Bovine, Feline, Hamster, Human, Mouse, Porcine, Rat samples, and it is validated for Immunocytochemistry, Immunohistochemistry (Frozen), Immunoprecipitation, Immuno Blotting

Synaptophysin is a ∽38kDa integral membrane protein on synaptic vesicles. This protein consists of four transmembrane domains, with its amino- and carboxyl-terminus facing the cytoplasm. Due to its transmembrane domain structure, synaptophysin has been postulated to be a gap junction-like protein as voltage-dependent channel activity is seen when synaptophysin hexamers are reconstituted into lipid membranes. Physiological evidence for synaptophysin’s role in secretion includes its involvement in calcium-dependent glutamate secretion in Xenopus oocytes injected with rat cerebellum mRNA.
