Description

TAB3, a member of RNA polymerase beta chain family is a 712 aa, intracellular protein that acts as adaptors linking TAK1 binding proteins. This protein is known to function redundantly as mediator of TAK1 activation in response to various stimuli and is critical for both IL-1 and TNF-induced activation of the NF-kB signal transduction pathway. When overexpressed, TAB3 activates both NF-kB and AP-1 transcription factors. When stimulated by the pro-inflammatory cytokines, protein kinase MAP3K7/TAK1 and either TRAF2 or TRAF6 complexes with TAB1 and TAB2 or with TAB1 and TAB3 to yield two distinct complex. It is also known to function as DNA-dependent RNA polymerase catalyzing the transcription of DNA into RNA.
