Beaker (50mL), cuvettes, pipet bulb, serological pipet (1mL), spectrophotometer or colorimeter with data collection system, stirring rod, stopwatch (if not using data collection software), volumetric flask (1000mL)
Students can also prepare dilutions of stock crystal violet solutions to generate a Beer's law calibration curve. This lab will require students to integrate prior chemistry knowledge involving spectroscopy, Beer's law, solution dilution, calibration curves, and chemical kinetics.
