    Applications
    Bathophenanthrolinedisulfonic acid disodium salt hydrate is used as colorimetric reagent for detection of iron. It is widely used for aqueous iron determination without the usage of solvent for extraction. It is used as precursor in the preparation of anionic Europium(III) disulfonated bathophenanthroline tris (dibenzoylmethanate) complex and ruthenium II tris (bathophenanthroline disulfonate). It plays a vital role in the catyltic oxidation of 2-hexanol by making it a water soluble complex with palladium.
