Shop All BD Biosciences ProductsDescription
The V18-949 monoclonal antibody specifically recognizes CD205 which is also known as Dendritic and thymic Epithelial Cells, 205 kDa (DEC-205). CD205 (DEC-205) is a type 1 transmembrane glycoprotein that is encoded by Ly75 (lymphocyte antigen 75). CD205 (DEC-205) is highly expressed by both CD8+ and CD103+ dendritic cell subsets and Langerhans cells. It is variably expressed by some other dendritic cell types, Gr1+ (Ly-6G and Ly-6C) bone marrow cells, B cells, macrophages, granulocytes, and mucosal and thymic cortical epithelial cells. CD205 (DEC-205) belongs to the C-type lectin receptor family and functions as a pattern recognition receptor and an endocytic receptor that participates in the cellular processing and presentation of foreign or self antigens to initiate immunity or tolerance.
