Description

Description

This antibody recognizes human CD65, an asialo-fucoganglioside expressed on the surface of peripheral blood granulocytes (highly) and monocytes (weakly).

This type 2 fucosylated carbohydrate antigen is expressed on the surface of all myeloid cells during development. Moreover, CD65 is expressed highly on granulocytes and weakly on monocytes in peripheral blood. CD65 has been reported to be a ligand for CD62E (E-Selectin). However, the sialylated form of CD65 (designated CD65s) can be used as a marker for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) as its expression increases as CD34 decreases. Finally, CD65 is important for extravascular infiltration of AML cells.
