Mouse Monoclonal Antibody

Recommended positive controls: Tonsil, Lymph Node, Granulocytes, Platelets.

CDw17, also known as Lactosylceramide (LacCer) or CD17, is a glycosphingolipid present on the surface of various cell types, including leukocytes, erythrocytes, and endothelial cells. It serves as a significant component of the cell membrane, involved in cell-cell interactions, cell adhesion, and signal transduction. Lactosylceramide is synthesized by the enzyme B-1,4-galactosyltransferase, which adds a galactose molecule to glucosylceramide. It acts as a precursor for more complex glycosphingolipids, playing critical roles in numerous physiological processes and immune responses. CDw17 is implicated in several pathological conditions, including atherosclerosis, cancer, and inflammatory diseases. In cancer, CDw17 acts as a mediator for tumor cell adhesion, invasion, and metastasis, making it a potential target for therapeutic intervention. Additionally, due to its role in the immune system, modulation of Lactosylceramide levels can influence immune cell functions and inflammatory responses.
