Cefoperazone sodium salt is the sodium salt form of cefoperazone. It is a semi-synthetic, broad-spectrum, and third-generation cephalosporin compound with antibiotic and bactericidal activities.

General Description

  • Cefoperazone sodium salt is a semi-synthetic, broad-spectrum, third-generation cephalosporin compound with antibiotic and bactericidal activities
  • This compound can inhibit bacterial cell wall synthesis by inactivating penicillin-binding proteins and consequently interfering with the final transpeptidation step required for cross-linking peptidoglycan units, an important component of bacterial cell walls. This leads to a reduction in cell wall stability, causing cell lysis
  • Application

  • Cefoperazone sodium salt exhibits activity against B-lactamase resistant microorganisms
  • This compound is also used for studying the expression, binding, and inhibition of penicillin-binding proteins
  • Cefoperazone is active in vitro against most gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including B-lactamase strains
  • This compound has the ability to inhibit ∝-antitrypsin
