Mouse Monoclonal Antibody

CSI 006-01-02 is highly specific for type V collagen. It has been shown to have no cross-reactivity with type I, III and VI collagens by ELISA and immunoblotting. There is no evidence for cross-reactivity with other connective tissue proteins (laminin, fibronectin, elastin). CSI 006-01-02 shows reactivity with human, dog, calf, sheep, pig and kangaroo in type V collagens by ELISA and immunoblotting. CSI 006-01-02 does not show reactivity with mouse, rat, guinea pig and chicken type V collagens by ELISA and immunoblotting. CSI 006-01-02 has been successfully used in Western blotting, ELISA and Immunohistochemistry procedures. CSI 006-01 has been used succesfully for immunohistology on frozen unfixed sections of human, bovine and dog skin, of foetal bovine cornea, and of new dog tissue associated with a biomaterial implant. If fixation of tissue is required, acetone or ethanol is recommended. CSI 006-01 binds poorly to Collagen V when tested in ELISA with Collagen V coated directly onto the microtiter well. NOTE: Concentration is lot-dependent and can vary from 0.85-1.15 mg/mL.

COL5A1 encodes an alpha chain for one of the lowabundance fibrillar collagens. Fibrillar collagen molecules aretrimers that can be composed of one or more types of alpha chains.Type V collagen is found in tissues containing type I collagen andappears to regulate the assembly of heterotypic fibers composed ofboth type I and type V collagen. COL5A1 product is closelyrelated to type XI collagen and it is possible that the collagenchains of types V and XI constitute a single collagen type withtissue-specific chain combinations. Mutations in this gene areassociated with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, types I and II.
