The GlowQuant™ ATP Cell Viability Assay Kit is a ready-to-use, bioluminescence-based solution for rapid and sensitive measurement of viable cells through ATP detection and quantification.

The GlowQuant™ ATP Cell Viability Assay Kit is a ready-to-use, bioluminescence-based solution for rapid and sensitive measurement of viable cells through ATP detection and quantification. Designed for wide variety of applications, this luminescence-based ATP assay supports cell health, proliferation studies, and cytotoxicity analysis with a simple one-step workflow.

The assay uses firefly luciferase to catalyze the oxidation of luciferin in the presence of ATP and oxygen, generating a stable bioluminescent signal directly proportional to ATP concentration, and therefore to the number of viable cells.

By measuring intracellular ATP (a universal marker of metabolically active cells), this assay provides a direct and quantitative assessment of cell health.

Key Features:

Features of GlowQuant™ ATP Cell Viability Assay Kit include:

  • High sensitivity ATP detection— Detects low cell numbers, down to ~50 cells/well in a 96-well plate.
  • Fast and simple — One-step add-and-read format with minimal hands-on time and results in as little as 10 minutes
  • No reagent preparation required — Supplied as a ready-to-use, pre-formulated reagent.
  • Stable signal — Bioluminescent glow with a signal half-life > 2 hours for flexible plate reading.
  • Quantitative and reliable performance — Linear response over a wide dynamic range for reliable cell-number estimation.
  • Microplate reader compatible — Designed for use with standard luminescence microplate readers in 96- and 384-well formats; compatible with automation.

How it Works

The GlowQuant™ assay features a simple add-and-read protocol with no separate lysis step required.

  1. Add an equal volume of reagent directly to cultured cells.
  2. Mix for 1 minute.
  3. Incubate at room temperature for 10–20 minutes.
  4. Measure luminescence using a luminometer or compatible microplate reader.

The emitted luminescent signal is proportional to intracellular ATP levels. Because viable cells maintain ATP while damaged or non-viable cells rapidly lose ATP, signal intensity directly reflects the number of metabolically active cells in each well.
