MA1-7588 detects HIV from virus samples. MA1-7588 has been successfully used in ELISA, Western blot and immunoprecipitation procedures. The MA1-7588 immunogen is a purified recombinant HIV1 p17 protein.

HIV-1 Gag p17 is the matrix protein of AIDS virus HIV-1 and is produced by the digestion of its precursor Gag p55 by HIV-1 protease. This protein is indispensable to the reproduction of AIDS virus and constitutes an essential element for the of AIDS virus particle construction.
