MA1-7041 detects HIV-1. MA1-7041 has been successfully used in ELISA and Western blot procedures. The MA1-7014 immunogen is purified recombinant HIV-1 p17.

HIV-1 Gag p17 is the matrix protein of AIDS virus HIV-1 and is produced by the digestion of its precursor Gag p55 by HIV-1 protease. This protein is indispensable to the reproduction of AIDS virus and constitutes an essential element for the of AIDS virus particle construction.
