Mouse Monoclonal Antibody

MA1-7040 detects the HIV-1 p24. MA1-7040 has been successfully used in sandwich ELISA procedures as a capture antibody, with PA1-73095 as the detection antibody. Also used in immunofluorescence applications. The MA1-7040 immunogen is purified recombinant HIV-1 p24.

HIV-1 Gag p24 is a capsid protein that constitutes the core of the AIDS virus HIV-1 and is produced by the digestion of its precursor Gag p55 by HIV-1 protease. The HIV-1 Gag p24 protein is indispensable to the reproduction of AIDS virus, and constitutes an essential element for the AIDS virus particle construction. HIV-1 Gag p24 is detectable from the early stage of AIDS virus infection, and is used as a marker for observation of the development in the patient's condition after treatment, as it indicated the amount of virus in the blood.
