IGFBP6 encodes for a 216-amino acid protein with a calculated molecular weight of 22,847. The protein was found to be an autocrine growth inhibitor. Recombinant IGFBP6 was shown to inhibit growth of HaCat cells and other keratinocyte cell lines.
