Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody

Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use. The antibody is directed against the extracellular domain of the human IL-1R type II, but precipitates the intact receptor expressed on human cells. In general, this antibody also detects primate IL-1RII. The antibody does not recognize human IL-1, IL-1Ra or IL-1R type I. In ELISA formats and other immunoreactive assays, this antibody will detect the extracellular domain of the IL-1R type II (also called soluble IL-1R type II) found in human body fluids, particularly in the circulation, urine and supernatants of cells and synovial fluid. This antibody can be used for FACS analysis. Caution should be exhibited as the F( c) domain of the rabbit IgG molecule may interact with cells non-specifically.

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine receptor that belongs to the interleukin 1 receptor family. This protein binds interleukin alpha (IL1A), interleukin beta (IL1B), and interleukin 1 receptor, type I(IL1R1/IL1RA), and acts as a decoy receptor that inhibits the activity of its ligands. Interleukin 4 (IL4) is reported to antagonize the activity of interleukin 1 by inducing the expression and release of this cytokine. This gene and three other genes form a cytokine receptor gene cluster on chromosome 2q12. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been reported.
