Description
Recognizes human Mn SOD. Cross-reacts with rat and rabbit Mn SOD. The antibody can be used to stain both indirectly or directly acetone-fixed cryostat sections or cell smears. BMS122 is suitable for Western blot application. Under reducing conditions/SDS electrophoresis using BMS122 a 25 kDa band will be recognized (monomer of MnSOD protein). The native form of the protein with a molecular weight of 80 kDa will be recognized under non-reducing conditions. Human MnSOD is a tetrameric enzyme with four identical subunits each harboring a Mn+3 atom. MnSOD catalyzes the dismutation of two molecules of superoxide anion into water and hydrogen peroxide.
