Mouse monoclonal antibody raised against FSHB.

The pituitary glycoprotein hormone family includes follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, chorionic gonadotropin, and thyroid-stimulating hormone. All of these glycoproteins consist of an identical alpha subunit and a hormone-specific beta subunit. This gene encodes the beta subunit of follicle-stimulating hormone. In conjunction with luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone induces egg and sperm production. Alternative splicing results in two transcript variants encoding the same protein. Test Specificity Recognizes the c1 epitope, a conformational epitope which is only detectable when the alpha and beta subunits of FSH are associated (intact FSH). No cross-reaction is detected in RIA with human FSH beta or any other human glycoprotein hormone or subunit thereof. Two-site sandwich ELISA revealed recognition of a conformational epitope on intact human FSH which is located near the alpha 1, alpha 2 and alpha 4 epitopes.
Target Species Human
