PRNP, Mouse, Clone: EM-20, Abnova™
Mouse monoclonal antibody raised against recombinant PRNP.
Supplier: Abnova Corporation MAB6472
Description
The protein encoded by this gene is a membrane glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored glycoprotein that tends to aggregate into rod-like structures. The encoded protein contains a highly unstable region of five tandem octapeptide repeats. This gene is found on chromosome 20, approximately 20kb upstream of a gene which encodes a biochemically and structurally similar protein to the one encoded by this gene. Mutations in the repeat region as well as elsewhere in this gene have been associated with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, fatal familial insomnia, Gerstmann-Straussler disease, Huntington disease-like 1, and kuru. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein. [provided by RefSeq

This antibody recognizes human prion protein (PrP). Diglycosylated form of PrP has ∼40 KDa, monoglycosylated form ∼30 KDa, and nonglycosylated form ∼19-21 KDa. This antibody is suitable for discrimination between normal cellular prion protein (PrPc) and its conformationally changed form (PrPSc) prionprotein. | |
Store at 4°C. Do not freeze. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. |
