SLC5A7 is a Na(+)- and Cl(-)- dependent high-affinity transporter that mediates the uptake of choline for acetylcholine synthesis in cholinergic neurons (Apparsundaram et al., 2000 [PubMed 11027560]).[supplied by OMIM
