Test Specificity Recognizes free T4 and total thyroxine. Thyroxine (T4) a thyroid hormone exerts a potent influence on the basal metabolic rate. Synthesized from the tyrosine residues of thyroglobin and is found in the serum of normal individuals. The L-form is twice as active physiologically as a racemic product, the D-form has very little activity. Cross Reactivity: <1% for T3, T2, and rT3 by direct EIA.
