It is a neural RNA-binding protein that is strongly expressed in fetal and adult neural stem cells (NSCs). Functionally, Musashi-1 plays important roles in cell fate decision, including the maintece of the stem-cell state, differentiation and tumorigenesis. Musashi-1 is an important regulator of the Notch-1 pathway.
