mTORRabbit anti-Human, Mouse, Rat, Polyclonal, Rockland™

Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody
Supplier: Rockland Immunochemicals 600401897
Description
Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use. Reactivity occurs with both phosphorylated and non-phosphorylated forms of mTOR at S2448 from human derived tissues and cells. A BLAST analysis was used to suggest cross reactivity with mTOR protein from rat and mouse based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence. Expect partial reactivity against mTOR homologues from zebrafish (94%) and dog (89%). Reactivity against homologues from other sources is not known.
Mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) is a serine/threonine kinase that plays a key role in cell growth, cell proliferation, and protein synthesis. mTOR mediates phosphoinositide 3-kinase and Akt/PKB signaling, resulting in phosphorylation of 4EBP1, and initiation of mRNA translation. A second pathway involves regulation of ribosomal S6 kinase, which affects ribosome biogenesis and translation elongation. Mutations affecting the gene results in Smith-Kingsmore syndrome.Specifications
