Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody

Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use. Reactivity occurs with phosphorylated mTOR from human derived tissues and cells. Reactivity against mTOR from other species has not been determined, however, reactivity with mouse and rat is suggested based on protein sequence homologies.

Mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) is a serine/threonine kinase that plays a key role in cell growth, cell proliferation, and protein synthesis. mTOR mediates phosphoinositide 3-kinase and Akt/PKB signaling, resulting in phosphorylation of 4EBP1, and initiation of mRNA translation. A second pathway involves regulation of ribosomal S6 kinase, which affects ribosome biogenesis and translation elongation. Mutations affecting the gene results in Smith-Kingsmore syndrome.
