    Description

    Applications
Phosphotungstic acid is used as a catalyst for the hydrolysis of propene to prepare 2-propanol. It is also involved in heterogeneous catalysis reaction to prepare propene from 2-propanol and methanol from hydrocarbons. Its ethanolic solution is used in biology as well as to precipitate proteins. It is utilized to precipitate different types of dye such as basic dyes and triphenylmethane dyes. In histology, it is used for staining of cell specimens. It is used in the gravimetric analysis of potassium in analytical chemistry.
