Rabbit Recombinant Monoclonal Antibody

This product is preservative free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%-0.1%). Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning in the specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Then, individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production. The advantages of using recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies include: better specificity and sensitivity, lot-to-lot consistency, animal origin-free formulations, and broader immunoreactivity to diverse targets due to larger rabbit immune repertoire. This antibody has specificity for Human PI3/Elafin/WFDC14.

Peptidase inhibitor 3 (PI3), also known as Elafin, is a gene located on chromosome 20q13.12, encoding a protein that functions as a serine protease inhibitor. Elafin is primarily expressed in epithelial tissues, including skin and mucosal surfaces, where it plays a protective role against excessive proteolytic activity by inhibiting enzymes like neutrophil elastase and proteinase 3. This activity is crucial for maintaining tissue homeostasis and preventing inflammatory damage. PI3 is regulated by pro-inflammatory cytokines and is involved in modulating inflammatory responses and tissue repair processes. Its expression is often elevated in conditions characterized by inflammation, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), psoriasis, and other inflammatory diseases, reflecting its role in guarding against protease-induced tissue damage.
