Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody

PA3-150 detects proteolipid protein in mouse samples. PA3-150 has been used successfully in Western blot and immunocytochemistry procedures. By Western blot this antibody detects a ~26-29 kDa protein representing the proteolipid protein in adult mouse brain samples. The PA3-150 immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues C(109) G K G L S A T V T G G Q K G R G S R G(128) of PLP.

PLP1 is a transmembrane proteolipid protein that is the predominant myelin protein present in the central nervous system. It may play a role in the compaction, stabilization, and maintenance of myelin sheaths, as well as in oligodendrocyte development and axonal survival. Mutations in this gene cause X-linked Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease and spastic paraplegia type 2. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms or having different 5' UTRs, have been identified for this gene. This gene encodes a transmembrane proteolipid protein that is the predominant myelin protein present in the central nervous system.
