Rat Monoclonal Antibody

The monoclonal antibody PC107 is specific for activated human protein C (APC) and it lacks reactivity for Protein C. The monoclonal antibody recognizes the light chain of the APC molecule.

Protein C is a protein that plays a crucial role in the regulation of blood clotting. It is a vitamin K-dependent serine protease that is activated by thrombin, a protein that promotes blood clotting. Once activated, protein C proteolytically cleaves and inactivates factors V and VIII, which are essential for the formation of blood clots. This process helps to prevent excessive blood clotting and maintain the normal flow of blood through the body. In addition to its anticoagulant function, protein C has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory and cytoprotective properties, suggesting that it may have a broader role in maintaining vascular health.
