MilliporeSigma™ Rabbit anti-Septin 11, Polyclonal,
Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody
Supplier: MilliporeSigma™ ABN1342
Description
Specifically detects Septin 11 in Rat samples, and it is validated for Immunohistochemistry, Western Blotting
Septin-11 is encoded by the Sept11 gene in rat and mouse (SEPT11 in human). Septins are GTP-binding proteins capable of forming higher-order oligomers and filamentous polymers that contact with the cell membrane and cytoskeleton. Septins are involved in various cellular processes, including cytokinesis, karyokinesis, exocytosis, and cell shape maintenance. Evidence indicates that septin-11 plays important roles in the cytoarchitecture of rat brain neurons, including dendritic arborization and dendritic spines, as well as in GABAergic synaptic connectivity (PMID 19380581). Septin-11 is also reported to be involved in host defense against Listeria surface protein InlB-mediated invasion in non-phagocytic cells in human (PMID 19234302). In addition, Septin-11 is identified to be enriched in the detergent-insoluble protein extracts prepared from frontal cortex of FTLD-U (frontotemporal lobar degeneration with ubiquitin-immunoreactive inclusions) patients (PMID 22126117). The immunogen sequence used to generate is 100% conserved among rodent (UniProt B3GNI6), murine (UniProt Q8C1B7), human (UniProt Q9NVA2), equine (UniProt F7E306), and porcine (NCBI XP_005666842.1) species.
