MilliporeSigma™ Rabbit anti-Stearoyl-CoA desaturase 1, Polyclonal,
Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody
Supplier: MilliporeSigma™ ABN1003
Description
Specifically detects Stearoyl-CoA desaturase 1 in Mouse, Rat samples, and it is validated for Immunocytochemistry, Immunohistochemistry
Fatty acid desaturases (FADS) catalyze the formation of carbon/carbon double bonds in fatty acids. Stearoyl-CoA desaturase 1 (Scd1), in particular, is an FADS that catalyzes the synthesis of oleic acid by introducing a double bond between C9 and C10 from the carboxyl end of stearic acid. Scd1 activity is essential for the earliest step of autophagosome formation, whose membrane has a high content of unsaturated fatty acids. Scd1 is reported to regulate inflammatory gene expression in adipocytes by influencing DNA methylation at the CpG promoter sites, Scd1 overexpression or silencing results in global DNA hypomethylation or hypermethylation, respectively, in 3T3 adipocytes. Stearoyl-CoA desaturase 1 is a novel therapeutic target in various malignancies, including breast cancer. (PMID 25130896, 25023287, and 25013434). Anti-Stearoyl-CoA desaturase 1, is a purified rabbit polyclonal raised against murine Scd1 (UniProt P13516 & Q547C4) C-terminal sequence that is well conserved in rat (UniProt P07308), but not in human.
