Invitrogen™ Rotavirus Capsid Monoclonal Antibody (E99J)
Mouse Monoclonal Antibody
Supplier: Invitrogen™ MA17281
Description
The MA1-7281 antibody reacts with Rotavirus capsid in viral and infected tissue samples. MA1-7281 has been successfully used in ELISA and Western blot applications. The MA1-7281 antibody was raised against purified rotavirus capsid.
Rotavirus is a double-stranded RNA virus in the family Reoviridae. Five species of rotavirus (A-E) cause disease in animals with species A being the most common in human. Within rotavirus A there are different strains, called serotypes, based on the dual classification system of two proteins on the surface of the virus. Six viral proteins (VPs), or structural proteins, form the virion and six non-structural proteins (NSPs) are expressed in infected cells. Rotavirus is the most common cause of severe diarrhoea among infants and young children. Rotavirus gastroenteritis is a mild to severe disease characterised by vomiting, watery diarrhoea, and low-grade fever, but still leads to hundreds of thousands of deaths each year in developing countries.
