Itlacks segments homologous to RNP1 and RNP2, commonA.A motifs found in several RNA-binding proteins. It associates with U2 snRNP and participates in transcription and pre-mRNA splicing. It might play an important role in cell division and proliferation. Patients with connective tissue disorders often produce autoantibodies against snRNP particles.
