Anti-Streptavidin is an IgG fraction antibody purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process which includes delipidation, salt fractionation and ion exchange chromatography followed by extensive dialysis against the buffer stated above. Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-fluorescein, anti-Rabbit Serum and Streptavidin. No reaction was observed against Avidin.
Streptavidin is a tetrameric protein purified from Streptomyces avidinii that binds very tightly to the vitamin biotin with a Kd of ∼ 10-14 mol/l. The high affinity recognition of biotin and biotinylated molecules has made streptavidin one of the most important components in diagnostics and laboratory kits.Specifications
