Description

Grow fastidious organisms, detect and enumerate coliforms, and isolate and detect Salmonella and Shigella spp. on a single plate.

Isolate and cultivate fastidious microorganisms with clearly visible hemolytic reactions (staphylococci and streptococci) and detect and enumerate coliform organisms such as E. coli, while at the same time isolating and detecting Salmonella and Shigella spp., using Thermo Scientific™ Blood Agar (TSA with 5% Sheep Blood) / MacConkey Agar.

Read more results from a single patient sample and produce more diagnostic details of pathogenic organisms while reducing storage capacity issues in the incubator with a bi-plate that includes two widely used microbiological media. One half of the plate contains TSA with 5% sheep blood to promote growth of fastidious organisms with clearly visible hemolysis forms for staphylococci and streptococci. MacConkey Agar on the other half of the plate is a selective medium for differentiating between coliforms and lactose and non-lactose fermenters.
