Description

Determine quantity of cholesterol in serum in vitro with Thermo Scientific™ Total Cholesterol Reagents.

Measurement of serum cholesterol levels can serve as an indicator of liver, biliary or thyroid function, intestinal absorption, adrenal disease and predisposition toward coronary artery disease. Increased levels are associated with nephrosis, diabetes mellitus and obstructive jaundice. When used in conjunction with triglyceride, HDL and LDL determinations, total cholesterol assays provide valuable information for the prediction of coronary artery disease. Decreased levels may be observed in cases of hyperthyroidism, certain anemias, malabsorption and wasting syndromes.
