Description

Description

  • When dyed, only FDA-approved color additives are used
  • Undyed suture is milk white in color
  • Coated with polycaprolactone and calcium stearate
  • Excellent knot security and handling
  • Predictable absorption profile
  • Indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures, but not for use in cardiovascular and neurological procedures.
  • Due to rapid loss of tensile strength, this suture should not be used where extended approximation of tissue under stress is required or where wound support beyond 7 days is required. PGA is not suitable for cardiovascular or neurological surgical procedures
  • Subcutaneous tissue implantation studies in rats indicate Visorb suture approximately retains 65% of the original tensile strength at 2 weeks post implantation
  • Absorption begins as a loss of tensile strength without appreciable loss of mass. Absorption of Visorb sutures is essentially complete between 60 and 90 days.
