(E)-Ferulic acid is an isomer of ferulic acid, an aromatic compound found in plant cell walls. It causes phosphorylation of β-catenin, leading to proteasome degradation, increasing the expression of pro-apoptotic factor Bax, and reducing the expression of the survival factor survivin. It can effectively remove reactive oxygen species (ROS) and inhibit lipid peroxidation, and exerts antiproliferative and antimigratory effects in the human lung cancer cell line H1299.
