Flutamide is an Androgen Receptor antagonist with a Ki of 55 nM. It inhibits prostate cancer progression and has shown potential in protecting against hyperthermia-induced multiple organ dysfunction syndrome. The active metabolite, Flutamide-OH, directly binds to the rat anterior pituitary androgen receptor. Flutamide has cytotoxic activity against PC3 and LNCap cells, inducing apoptosis and reducing cell migration and colonization. It downregulates the expression of KLK2 and EMT pathway genes in cells.
