Sep-Pak Alumina N Vac cartridges contain a highly active grade of alumina with a neutral surface chemistry. The aluminum oxide surface provides an extremely polar surface for analyte retention and has properties of a Lewis acid. This normal phase sorbent is similar in use to silica; however, it is slightly more stable than unfunctionalized silica under high pH conditions. This neutral alumina is suitable for applications such as synthetic crude oil fractionation. These syringe-barrel-type cartridges are designed for use with vacuum manifolds and automated SPE instruments.

The 1 cc flangeless Oasis WCX cartridges contain the Oasis WCX sorbent, which is a polymeric reversed-phase, weak ion exchange mixed-mode sorbent that has been optimized for fast, simple, and highly selective sample preparation of strong basic compounds and quaternary amines. Since the Oasis WCX sorbent is water wettable, it maintains its capability for higher retention and excellent recoveries even if the sorbent runs dry, which means there is no need to take extraordinary steps to keep the sorbent beds from drying out during the critical steps prior to sample loading. The flangeless configuration allows the cartridges to be closely packed for processing in specialized automated SPE systems.
